Mamidikaya Pappu - Andhra Style Arhar Dal cooked With Raw Mangoe

400 Grams Arhar Dal
2 Large Raw Mangoes - peeled & Cubed
Soak dal for an hour with haldi and salt . Add raw mangos and pressure cook for 10 minutes.Set aside and allow the dal to stand in the cooker till the pressure drops naturally - 15 minutes . Mean while make the ' Tarka ' :

100 Ml Mustard Oil
1/4 Teaspoon Methi Seeds.
1 Teaspoon Jeera .
2 Teaspoons Black Gram Dal.
1.5 Teaspoons Mustard Seeds.
Curry leaves.
Green Chilies Chopped.
Red Chilies.

Smoke mustard oil , add mustard seeds , then methi seeds and finally jeera , black gram dal , curry leaves and dried red chilies. Once everything is cooked add hing , then pour the tarka over the cooked dal and mango , turn on heat , adjust water . Cook another 5 minutes to blend flavors . Adjust and eat with rice/roti.
Please adjust chilies and sourness to suit your palate.
