Nepali Sel Roti

Sel Roti is a sweet home made circular bread , like a doughnut and is a must make at every festival. You normally would soak rice for a few hours , drain and blend to a powder . However now a days rice flour is readily available and the rotis come out as well .

1 Cup Rice Flour.
3 Tablespoons Ghee.
3 Tablespoons Sugar .
Flavoring ( Such as cardamon , cloves or even a ripe nicely mashed banana )
Hot Water.

Rub the ghee into all the ingredients , then slowly add water . Add enough water to get a thick batter. Allow the batter stand for 1-2 hours then  beat the batter nicely allowing it to get a bit fluffy with air .
Take a wok and in abundant hot oil using your hand or a funnel/piping bag pour the batter in a circle. Using a chopstick rotate it a bit , then flip . Cook 2-3 minutes till both sides are golden brown. You can also place a katori in the wok and pour the batter around it to make it easier.
Delicious Nepali doughnuts !
